Mona Singh on the failure of Laal Singh Chaddha: All work I did in the last 2 years is because of that film

The actor essayed the role of Aamir Khan’s mother in the Indian adaptation of Forrest Gump

Actor Mona Singh recently opened up in an interview about the failure of her 2022 film Laal Singh Chaddha and how doing that film made her more recognized in the industry. Headlined by Aamir Khan, the film was an Indian adaptation of the Hollywood classic, Forrest Gump (1994) and also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan. Upon its release, the film tanked at the box-office.

Speaking about how the film helped her get more roles, in an interview with India Today, Mona said, “All the work that I have been doing for the last two years, is because of Laal Singh Chaddha. The movie didn’t get great box office numbers but I got great shows because of that film. According to me, an actor’s talent never goes to waste. It always gets noticed.”

She added, “The film didn't do well in theatres but when it came on OTT, it blew out of proportion and that is the time when people got to see the different types of roles I was doing which got me different opportunities and people were willing to explore varied roles with me. I got many opportunities because of that."

Her latest release, Munjya, hit the theatres on June 7. It also stars Abhay Verma and Sharvari and is directed by Aditya Sarpotdar. The film is from the house of Maddock Films and is backed by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the makers of Stree (2018).
