Aamir Khan has opened up about the failure of his film Lal Singh Chaddha. It is an official adaptation of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump, which starred Tom Hanks in the lead role. Upon its release in August 2022, Lal Singh Chaddha didn’t do well at the box office, despite getting good reviews.

Speaking about the film at an event, Aamir said, “It’s a film close to my heart. Advait, Kareena, and the whole cast and crew worked hard, and it didn’t do well. Two things happened, after a long time my film didn’t work, so family and friends would come home to ask me if I was okay.”

He added, “I realised that I am getting a lot of love after a flop. That was the funny side of it. The real side is, failure teaches you what really has gone wrong. It gives you an opportunity to understand what your mistake was in terms of communicating that story."

Aamir also said that the film was a good learning experience for him. “I remember telling Kiran once, ‘I made so many mistakes in this film on so many levels. Thank God I made these mistakes in just one film. Emotionally, I am hurt that the film has not worked, I have taken time to absorb the grief.”

Aamir’s next film as a producer is the Kiran Rao directorial Laapataa Ladies, which will be released in theatres on March 1.
