A special announcement about Don 3 will be made tomorrow, the makers said on Monday. The film marks the return of Farhan Akhtar to directing films after over 12 years since Don 2 (2011). It will be the third part in the Don franchise which earlier starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead.

The Instagram page of Excel Entertainment shared the update through a story. Earlier, it was announced through a teaser video that Ranveer Singh will be replacing Shah Rukh in the action film franchise. In the video, Ranveer sported the classic black suit as he mouthed the timeless dialogue (Don ko pakadna mushkil hi nahi, namumkin hai) originally written by Salim-Javed in Don (1978) which starred Amitabh Bachchan in the lead.

Farhan Akhtar made a remake of Don in 2005, with Shah Rukh Khan in the lead. It followed the same story but gave it a modern twist. The film was followed by a sequel, Don 2 in 2011 which also starred Priyanka Chopra and Boman Irani in pivotal roles.
