Varun Dhawan recently opened up about how he was insecure of Sidharth Malhotra during the shoot of Student of the Year (2011). He felt that Sidharth was tall and handsome and feared if people would even notice him alongside Sidharth.

During a conversation with Shubhankar Mishra on YouTube, Varun said, “He (Sidharth) was tall and wide, good looking, and there were two heroes in the film. At that time, I felt that he is amazing and looks handsome, so people will only watch him. Will people even notice me or not? What if my dream only stays a dream?”

He also spoke about the debates of nepotism that started to surface when the film was released. “Moreover, the negativity around nepotism also started at that time. So, during that time, I hadn’t planned anything before I entered the industry, I only knew that I have worked hard and I am deserving, but people were saying something else. The reception has not always been flowery, that’s what people feel. But I have had to fight that a lot. No matter what happens, I will keep fighting,” he said.

Varun's latest film Baby John released in theatres on December 25. It is directed by Kalees and also stars Wamiqa Gabbi, Keerthy Suresh, and Rajpal Yadav in pivotal roles.
