Janhvi Kapoor has joined the Pushpa 2 vs Interstellar debate that has been doing rounds online since the past few days. The actor responded to a post on social media with the title ‘India doesn’t deserve cinema’ and batted for the Allu Arjun starrer.

Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar was scheduled to have its IMAX re-release worldwide on December 6. However, there were reports that claimed that due to Pushpa 2, the release of Interstellar had to be postponed due to no screens available, sparking discussions online about both the films.

Tatva India made a post on Instagram recently about the same, adding the aforementioned quote. Janvhi took to the comments section to express her thoughts and said, “Pushpa 2 is also cinema. Why are we so obsessed with idolising the west and running down things that come out of our own country and instantly disqualifying it from being considered as worthy?”

She added, “The same rooted representation and larger than life tone other countries appreciate and are fascinated by our cinema for, we ourselves are embarrassed of. Sad.”

Janhvi recently made her Telugu film debut with Devara: Part 1, alongside Jr. NTR. The film released in theatres on September 27.
