We had earlier reported that the Hindi remake of hit Tamil film Soorarai Pottru is in the making with Akshay Kumar in the lead role. The makers have now announced that the film will hit the theatres on September 1.

The remake is helmed by director Sudha Kongara, who has also directed the original. While Akshay Kumar will play Suriya’s role, Radhika Madan will be playing the role of Aparna Balamurali. Paresh Rawal and Sarathkumar will also be playing important roles in the film.

The yet-to-be-titled film will be backed by Suriya along with Jyotika under their banner 2D Entertainment and the Bollywood film house Abundantia Entertainment. GV Prakash, who composed the soundtrack of the Tamil version, will also be scoring for the film.

Soorarai Pottru is inspired by the events that took place in GR Gopinath's life, who founded the low-cost airline Simplifly Deccan with the aim to make airline facilities available for all at low costs.
