Sushil Ansal withdraws plea challenging Trial By Fire release

Real estate magnate Sushil Ansal had filed a suit seeking a permanent and mandatory injunction against the Netflix series Trial By Fire, based on the 1997 Uphaar Cinema fire tragedy by Neelam and Shekhar Krishnamoorthy. Now he has told the court that he wants to withdraw his plea.

The High Court, on January 12, refused to stay the release of the series, which was released the next day.

Representing Sushil, senior advocate Siddharth Aggarwal stated that Sushil's real name is used three times in the trailer, hurting his reputation and other rights, despite the series' warning that it is a piece of fiction.

Sushil’s counsel said that he wishes to withdraw the present suit and requests to place the matter before the court.

Trial By Fire stars Abhay Deol and Rajesh Tailang in the lead roles.
