Only a few days back, Dhanush had announced that he will be collaborating once again with filmmaker Aanand L Rai for a film titled Tere Ishk Mein. The announcement was celebrating 10 years of Raanjhanaa which featured the actor in the filmmaker's directorial.

While Tere Ishk Mein's announcement teaser revealed that the film will be set in the Raanjhanaa universe, the filmmaker opened up about the upcoming film to Variety. "When we were working on the Tere Ishk Mein script, we realized that we are catching on to the same aggression. And in terms of genre, it’s falling in that genre of tragedy and I said, it’s actually belonging to that world. They’re not similar stories, but they have a similar heartbeat. We were getting the same feeling what we were getting when we were working on Raanjhanaa. I said, let’s start belonging to that world,” Aanand was quoted as saying.

Raanjhanaa marked the Hindi debut of Dhanush and had music by AR Rahman who will also be scoring for Tere Ishk Mein as well. While Raanjhanaa was shot mostly in Varasani, the new project will be filmed in the city partially only.

On reuniting with Rahman once again, he said, "Even I’m stopping myself by giving him the situation of the songs. As a creative team, let’s talk about the story and see what melodies come in rather than I telling him that I need something like this. Let’s explore the entire world of Tere Ishk Mein.”
