Oscar Award-winning producer Guneet Monga's recent release was the Netflix film Kathal, starring Sanya Malhotra in the lead role.

According to IANS, she said the film attempted to speak about the absurdity of our reality. It is a satire about a local politician who files a police complaint over missing jackfruits and a young cop, played by Sanya, is assigned to crack the case. Guneet says, "We made Kathal with the hope of speaking about the absurdity of our reality, and with the headlines, we're seeing now, it's all the more validating that sometimes reality is stranger than fiction."

The film also stars Anant V Joshi, Vijay Raaz, Rajpal Yadav, Raghubir Yadav, Brijendra Kala, and Neha Saraf, in prominent roles. Director Yashowardhan said that they wanted to make a sharp social satire that ushers audiences towards thinking critically about the world we live in. He also added that the responses to this quirky film have been really rewarding.
