The film stars Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead roles

Bawaal, the recently released Hindi film starring Varun Dhawan and Janhvi Kapoor in the lead role, has received appreciation from the acclaimed filmmaker Hansal Mehta.

The filmmaker has written a note on his Twitter handle specifying the film has got him laughing and crying, "I found Bawaal to be quite a sweet film. Has its heart in the right place. Makes you laugh, cry, and smile and entertains you even where some of the dialogues seem misplaced in their use of world-war metaphors. The intention never feels misplaced. Try the film, " penned the filmmaker.

Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the film features Varun Dhawan as Ajay Dixit and Janhvi Kapoor as Nisha. The film, which is currently premiering on Prime Video, has received mixed receptions from viewers. An excerpt from the CE review of the film read, " The World War II background feels ill-fitted and makes this Nitesh Tiwari directorial a bit too self-indulgent."

Bawaal is backed by Sajid Nadiadwala's production banner Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment in collaboration with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari and Nitesh Tiwari's Earthsky Pictures.
