Anurag Basu to direct Indian spy Ravindra Kaushik's biopic The Black Tiger

Veteran director Anurag Basu will be directing the film The Black Tiger, which is regarded as the official biopic of Indian spy Ravindra Kaushik. The director will also produce the film along with R Vivek, Asvin Srivatsangam and Divay Dhamija.

Ravindra Kaushik was just 20 when he first went undercover for R&AW, India's foreign intelligence agency. He even penetrated the Pakistani Army's highest ranks, receiving the moniker 'The Black Tiger' from the then Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi.

The director commented that stories about unsung heroes like Ravindra Kaushik must be recognised and learned. , "Ravindra Kaushik's story is that of courage and bravery. At the young age of 20 years, he played a pivotal role in many national and international security matters of the 70s and 80s that went on to define India's and South Asia's geo-political character. So much of our history is hidden or forgotten, and we should recognise and learn about this unsung hero", said Anurag Basu.
