The trailer of Scam 2003: The Telgi Story was released by the makers on Tuesday. The series stars theatre actor Gagan Dev Riar as the eponymous scamster Abdul Karim Telgi, who was behind the country’s biggest stamp paper scam worth Rs 30,000 crore.

While the previous instalment in the series Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story was helmed by Hansal Mehta, Scam 2003 is directed by Tushar Hiranandani.

The trailer opens with voiceovers describing Telgi. The descriptions go like “He is a khota sikka”, “He is a snake”, “He is very smart.” We are then introduced to Gagan as Telgi. The trailer shows us the rise of Telgi, how he started printing fake stamp papers and how finally, the walls are closing in on him. Just like Scam 1992the trailer promises a lot of dialogue-baazi. In a scene, Gagan is seen saying, “I have confidence deposited in a savings account.”

The series is based on the book  Reporter ki Diary, authored by journalist Sanjay Singh. It will start streaming on SonyLIV on September 1.
