Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial debut Khamoshi: The Musical completes 27 years

Filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s directorial debut Khamoshi: The Musical (1996) completed 27 years since its release on Wednesday. The film starred Salman Khan and Manisha Koirala in lead roles. It also featured Nana Patekar and Seema Biswas.

To commemorate the occasion the makers released a mixtape of the film’s iconic songs on social media in a post. The video post comprises  songs such as‘Aaj Main Upar’ by Kavita Krishnamurthy and Kumar Sanu, ‘Yeh Dil Sun Raha Hai ‘ by Kavita Krishnamurthy and ‘Bahon Ke Darmiyan’ by Alka Yagnik and Hariharan. The caption read “Here's to Khamoshi: The Musical. A timeless journey of love, song and emotions.

The film’s songs were chartbusters when it was released. Khamoshi: The Musical won five FilmFare awards including for Best Film (Critics) and Best Actress (Critics) for Manisha Koirala.
