Veteran music composer Sapan Sengupta passed away in his Mumbai residence last week. He was 90. Sapan Sengupta was one half of the Sapan-Jagmohan duo of the 60s and 70s. The duo had composed popular songs like Teri Talash Mein (Teri Talash Mein, 1968), Main To Har Mod Par (Chetna, 1970), Ulfat Mein Zamane Ki, Hum Hai Jahan (Call Girl, 1974), Ae Mere Dil Diwane (Laal Kothi, 1978), Tujhe Dil Mein Basa (Siskiya, 1983) and others. They had worked with iconic singers like Asha Bhosle, Lata Mangeshkar, Kishore Kumar and Mohammed Rafi. They'd also composed songs for Bengali and Punjabi films. Jagmohan Bakshi passed away in 1999.
Condoling Sapan Sengupta's death, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee tweeted on Thursday, "I am deeply saddened by the passing of Bengal’s very own musical maestro Sapan Sengupta.
He leaves behind an incredible legacy and will live on in the hearts of many. I pray that his soul rests in peace and express my heartfelt condolence to his family, friends and followers."
