Nawazuddin Siddiqui's next film will be a real-life story of a customs officer, a report in Pinkvilla states. The actor is training in karate and hurdling for the part, and will begin shooting for the film in Goa, a source told the portal.

The film, it turns out, is helmed by Sejal Shah. Sejal had produced Serious Men (2020) starring Nawazuddin and directed by Sudhir Mishra. The new project will be directed by Sejal, the report adds.

Though no official announcement is made, the film might be based on the life of Costao Fernandes. In 1991, Costao, a customs officer with a karate black belt, had chased and fought the Alemao brothers of Goa in a gold smuggling case. The incident had led to the death of Alvernaz Alemao, the brother of former Goa Chief Minister Churchill Alemao.

Cinema Express will update this story if the film is not based on Costao Fernandes.
