A Hindi adaptation of Thiagarajan Kumararaja’s Aaranya Kaandam (2011) is in pre-production. Producers Ramesh Taurani (Tips Industries) and Akshai Puri (12th Street Entertainment) have acquired exclusive rights to the neo-noir thriller.

While other details remain under wraps, the project is being helmed by Ajay Bahl (Section 375).

Released in 2011, Aaranya Kaandam revolves around the destinies of six characters. The film is set in a single day and loosely strung by a drug deal. The original cast featured Jackie Shroff, Ravi Krishna, Guru Somasundaram, Sampath Raj and others. Thiagarajan's second film, Super Deluxe, was released in 2019 and had thematic echoes of Aaranya Kaandam.

"Aaranya Kaandam marked the beginning of a new chapter in Tamil cinema and garnered many accolades," reads a press note on the Hindi adaptation. "The makers are confident that the adaptation will acquire the same cult status in Hindi cinema as the original film."
