Biopic series on Indian sumo wrestler Hetal Dave in the works

Actor Shriyam Bhagnani (City of Dreams, Baaghi 2) will star in an upcoming series on the life of Indian sumo wrestler Hetal Dave.

Hetal Dave is India's first and only female professional sumo wrestler. Hailing from Mumbai, she has represented India in International championships and in 2008 made it to the Limca Book of Records. Her first World Championship was in Estonia in 2008. She has also represented India in tournaments in Poland, Finland, and Taiwan. At the 2009 World Games, she stood fifth in the women's middleweight category.

Shriyam Bhagnani has been roped in to play Hetal in a biopic titled Sumo Didi. As per sources, the last schedule of the series is being shot in Japan. Earlier, trainer Sahil Rasheed had posted BTS pictures from the shoot and his training sessions with Shriyam.

Sumo Didi is directed by debutant Jayant Rohatgi. The series also stars actors Nitesh Pandey, Chaitanya Sharma, and Raghav Dhir.
