Vijay Sethupathi announces 96 Hindi remake

Hindi remake of the blockbuster Tamil film 96 has been announced. Vijay Sethupathi, who starred in the original, made the official announcement through his Twitter handle.

Ajay Kapoor is producing the film. He has earlier backed films like Baby, Airlift, Roy, and Pataakha. He is also co-producing the upcoming Hindi thriller Attack starring John Abraham and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Directed by C Premkumar, 96 is a romantic entertainer about two high school sweethearts meeting after 22 long years. Vijay Sethupathi and Trisha played the lead roles in it, The film went on to be hugely successful, both critically and commercially.

96 also got remade in Telugu and Kannada. While Sharwanand and Samantha starred in the Telugu version, Jaanu, the Kannada remake, 99, had Ganesh and Bhavana as the leads.
