Streaming platform MX Player has announced its next original. The portal will adapt K Giriprakash's non-fiction book, The Vijay Mallya Story. Originally published in 2014 by Penguin, the book traces the rise and fall of businessman Vijay Mallya.

The Vijay Mallya Story has been acquired in association with Almighty Motion Picture.

According to a press note, "the web series will trace the journey of the flamboyant entrepreneur Vijay Mallya and is touted to cover a large spectrum of his triumphs and travails."

Vijay Mallya was one of the subjects of the docuseries, Bad Boy Billionaires: India. He is presently fighting extradition from the UK to India. He had fled the country in 2016 over fraud and money laundering charges.
