On Monday, auteur Francis Ford Coppola released the first teaser trailer for his upcoming directorial venture, Megalopolis, on his Instagram handle. The film is set to premiere at the Cannes Film Festival on May 17.

Sharing the video, The Godfather director wrote, "Our new film Megalopolis is the best work I've ever had the privilege to preside over."

The film stars Adam Driver in the lead role. Megalopolis is about an architect (Driver) who wishes to build a retro-futurist version of NYC after a catastrophe. Coppola's references for the project include HG Wells' speculative sci-fi literature, Roman history, the September 11 attacks, and many other events.

Besides Adam Driver, the film also includes Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Jason Schwartzman, Laurence Fishburne, Kathryn Hunter, Grace VanderWaal, Chloe Fineman, James Remar, D.B. Sweeney and Dustin Hoffman.
