Ahead of the December premiere of Avengers: Doomsday, the Russo Brothers are having their 2019 film Avengers: Endgame released again in theatres on September 25, Friday. Only, the rerelease, titled Avengers Endgame: Encore, has some footage added to the 2019 film. Ahead of its release, the film's director duo, the Russo Brothers, shared an emotional note where they recalled their experience watching the film upon its initial release.

The directors wrote, "The most emotional night of our careers was sneaking into theaters on opening night of Avengers: Endgame. We stood in the back and watched a thousand strangers react  — the gasps, the cheers, the tears. We got chills. And may have shed a tear or two ourselves.  It was a magical experience in a movie theater. And it was a magical experience for two Comic Book fans from Cleveland, Ohio, who as kids dreamed of telling stories that made people leap out of their seats with excitement. Stories that inspired them. And fired their imaginations."

There is some discussion that the makers of Avengers: Endgame also consider the film's potential to break Avatar's record of being the highest-grossing film of all time as the reason for its rerelease. However, it is primarily designed as a way to help bridge the narrative gap between Endgame and Doomsday.

As the Russo Brothers themselves explains, "Just so you know, we’ll be sneaking into theaters again for Avengers Endgame: Encore. There’s a generation that only ever saw this movie in their living room. And we want to hear what it sounds like when they finally get to see it in a theater."

They also requested the audience not to spoil the "surprises in Avengers Endgame: Encore" for others. "Give them the same opportunity to discover those surprises that you had," the filmmakers signed off.
