Director Destin Daniel Cretton's Spider-Man: Brand New Day continues to break box office records every other day. The Tom Holland starrer recently became the third highest-grossing film of all time at the worldwide box office, behind Avatar and Avengers: Endgame. On Wednesday, distributor Sony Pictures Entertainment announced that it has also become the highest-grossing film at the North American box office.

Sharing the news with a clip from the film, the distributor wrote, "Doesn’t get bigger than this. Thank you to the fans for helping #SpiderManBrandNewDay make cinematic history – it’s now the highest-grossing domestic release of ALL TIME at the North American box office."

The film broke the previous record held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens. According to a Variety report, it has earned $936.773 million from theatres in the region. On the other hand, according to Deadline, its worldwide gross collection is around $2.45 billion.

It is worth noting that Star Wars: The Force Awakens released theatrically in December 2015, which means its collection would be higher if you take inflation into consideration. Spider-Man fans would not care about this, though, just as Sony Pictures Entertainment and producer Marvel Studios.

Tom Holland's fourth solo Spider-Man film, Brand New Day follows the titular character, also known as Peter Parker, and his fight against a mysterious force that uses mind control to unleash sheer mayhem. As he tries to navigate his personal life with girlfriend Michelle Jones-Watson (Zendaya) and his longtime friend, Ned Leeds (Jacob Batalon), who have no memory of their past relationships with him, Spider-Man must fight an internal battle, reconciling with his identity as Peter Parker.

Thanks to the film's remarkable box office performance, Tom Holland has reportedly become the highest-grossing actor of all time.
