It has been five months since the release of Curry Barker's Obsession in theatres in India. While the film is available on a rental basis on Prime Video, it is yet to have its full digital premiere in the country. The wait for the horror film is finally about to be over for audiences, as JioHotstar has announced the Obsession OTT release date on Thursday. The streamer revealed, "Obsession: The Original Uncut Version, streaming 30th October, 7 PM onwards on The Peacock Hub on JioHotstar." It will be available on the streaming platform with dubs in Hindi as well.

What is more, the film will be out in its raw form on the streaming platform. When it released theatrically earlier this year, a section of the audience expressed some disappointment over cut gore scenes.

The film tells the story of a youngster (Michael Johnston) who makes a wish to an object that his longtime girlfriend (Inde Navarrette) ends up loving him more than anything else in the world. When his wish comes true, however, it causes much chaos and violence in the couple's life. What has been a case of one-side love till then takes an obsessive turn, making him realise that one has to pay a dark and sinister price for some desires.

The film serves as a cautionary tale that explores themes of male entitlement, the importance of integrity and the element of vulnerability in relationships, and the repercussions of forcing one's love and affection. It also stars Cooper Tomlinson and Megan Lawless, among others.

At the time of its theatrical release, Obsession became quite a phenomenon at the box office, reportedly grossing more than $500 million from theatres. It is one of the ten highest-grossing horror films of all time and among the most profitable films in the genre.
