Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed season 2 confirmed: What's next for Tatiana Maslany's crime-solving mom?

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed follows Paula, a newly divorced mother played by Maslany, who believes she has witnessed a crime and begins investigating it

Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed, led by Tatiana Maslany, uses an increasingly chaotic investigation to explore how far an ordinary person might go when convinced that something is wrong. Its mix of domestic drama and criminal intrigue has also allowed it to move between dark humour and genuine suspense, leaving its central character in a position where resolving one crisis only opens the door to another.

Apple TV has now renewed Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed for a second season. The series follows Paula, a newly divorced mother played by Maslany, who believes she has witnessed a crime and begins investigating it while navigating a custody battle and an identity crisis. Jake Johnson plays Karl, her former husband, with the ensemble also featuring Murray Bartlett, Dolly De Leon, Brandon Flynn, Jessy Hodges, Jon Michael Hill, Charlie Hall, Kiarra Hamagami Goldberg and Nola Wallace.

Creator and showrunner David J Rosen welcomed the renewal, saying, “We are delighted to continue the story of MPG and deeply grateful to Apple and our incredible cast and crew.” He also offered an unusual explanation for the title, adding, “This is all pretty amazing for a show whose title came from a spam email.”

The announcement comes after the first season ended with Paula seemingly clearing her name in a double-murder case and winning back custody of her daughter, Hazel. However, a threatening message from an unidentified caller, accompanied by incriminating video from her past, suggested that the investigation had opened up a more dangerous chapter. The finale also hinted that Paula’s account of events may not have revealed the whole story.

Created by Rosen, Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed is produced by Apple Studios and Counterpart Studios. David Gordon Green directs and executive produces, while Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and Bard Dorros are also among the executive producers. The first season premiered in May and ran for 10 episodes, with its finale streaming in July. All episodes are currently available on Apple TV.
