Jeffrey Archer, the author of several popular books and a politician, passed away at the age of 86 years on October 05, Monday. Around the time of his death, he was still in a writing session, revealed publisher HarperCollins. According to the information on his official website, he has written 59 published works, which include 31 novels. Jeffrey Archer's best novels include Kane and Abel as well as the William Warwick and Clifton Chronicles series of books.

Besides his work in literature, Jeffrey Archer is also known for his cameo appearance in a film with fellow authors Salman Rushdie, Julian Barnes, Sebastian Faulks, and Alain de Botton. The film in question is 2001's Bridget Jones's Diary, starring Renee Zellweger in the titular role alongside Colin Firth, Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, and Gemma Jones, among others.

Directed by Sharon Maguire, the first film in the popular franchise features Archer playing himself. In one scene from the film, Zellweger's Bridget Jones delivers an awkward speech that happens to hurt both Archer and Rushdie. Archer is one of the background artists in the scene set around the launch of a book. Actor-singer Honor Blackman also has a brief appearance in the 2001 film.

Bridget Jones's Dairy is not Archer's only association with cinema and entertainment. Some of his books have formed the basis of film and television adaptations, including his first novel Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less, which was turned into a 1990 television movie, and False Impression.

Archer has also appeared in television titles such as One More Audience with Dame Edna Everage, Princess Diana: A Life After Death (2018), and Scarfe's Follies (1988). Notably, he was the subject of 2002 satirical comedy from BBC, where he did not appear but was played by Damian Lewis.
