Prime Video has unveiled the first look at its upcoming historical drama series, Bloodaxe. The upcoming series is created by Michael Hirst, who has previously created Vikings and The Tudors.
Michael also serves as a writer, showrunner, and executive producer along with his son, Horatio Hirst, who is also a co-creator on Bloodaxe. O’Sullivan Productions and Toluca Pictures are backing the upcoming series along with MGM Television and Prime Video.
The cast of the upcoming series includes Xavier Molyneux, Jessica Madsen, Karlis Arnolds Avots, Levi Miller, Rod Hallett, Alina Tomnikov, Sisse Marie, Rune Temte, and Jesper Christensen.
Bloodaxe chronicles the rise of one of history’s most famous Norse raiders, Erik Bloodaxe (Xavier Molyneux), and his formidable wife Gunnhild, Mother of Kings (Jessica Madsen). As they fight for the throne of Norway, the land is torn apart by fierce rivals, shifting loyalties, and bloody betrayals. With multiple clashes brewing including war with other Scandinavian countries and England, the fate of Norway hang in the balance.
While a premiere date for the first season hasn't been announced, Bloodaxe has been renewed for a second season.
