Liam Neeson to star in Matthew Modine's The Splendid Thing

Stranger Things-fame Matthew Modine will write, direct, and star in The Splendid Thing, which also features Liam Neeson in its cast

On Monday, Liam Neeson was announced to star in The Splendid Thing. The upcoming film will be directed by Stranger Things-fame Matthew Modine, who also stars in the film.

Along with Neeson and Modine, actor and comedian John Cleese has been announced to star in The Splendid Thing. Executive producers Ashok Amritraj and Priya Amritraj are backing the film under their Hyde Park Entertainment banner. Production on The Splendid Thing is set to begin in Italy, in August.

The makers described The Splendid Thing as a story which plays with idea of the real and the imaginative, in a story that is heartful, comical, and philosophical.

For Neeson who was last seen in The Naked Gun (2025), the upcoming film is a continuation of his comedic ventures. He has two action thrillers, 4 Kids Walk Into a Bank and The Mongoose in his pipeline.
