Ryan Gosling's Project Hail Mary scores the biggest opening of 2026

The Ryan Gosling headlined film, Project Hail Mary, has had one of the biggest opening collections of 2026. The science fiction adventure, which has already released in theatres of some countries outside India, is set to open in theatres on March 26, in India.

The film has collected $140.9 million across various countries internationally. In the North American market alone, $80.5 million has been collected, with $60.4 million being the total collections from other countries.

Based on Andy Weir's novel of the same name, the upcoming film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and is written by Drew Goddard, the creator of Netflix's Daredevil.

The cast of the film also includes Sandra Huller, Ken Leung, Milana Vayntrub, Lionel Boyce, Liz Kingsman, and Orion Lee.

The official synopsis of the film reads, "Science teacher Ryland Grace (Ryan Gosling) wakes up on a spaceship light years from home with no recollection of who he is or how he got there. As his memory returns, he begins to uncover his mission: solve the riddle of the mysterious substance causing the sun to die out. He must call on his scientific knowledge and unorthodox ideas to save everything on Earth from extinction… but an unexpected friendship means he may not have to do it alone."
