CIA agents Sam Rockwell's Lee and John Malkovich's Chris are sent on a trip to Easter Island that doesn't go quite as planned due to a new friendship in the trailer of Wild Horse Nine. Also starring Steve Buscemi, the film is helmed by Martin McDonagh.

The trailer establishes that the film is set against the looming 1973 Chilean coup. Then, CIA chief MJ (Buscemi) sends agents Lee and Chris to Easter Island, where a risky friendship with two rebellious students threatens their mission. As past secrets resurface and conspiracies unfold, the duo must keep their paradise assignment from turning disastrous in this dark comedy.

Wild Horse Nine also stars Parker Posey, Mariana di Girolamo, Ailin Salas, Tom Waits, and Paola Giannini. Production on the film took place on Rapa Nui, also known as Easter Island, a remote Chilean territory in the Pacific Ocean renowned for its unique cultural heritage.

The official description of the film reads, "Shortly before the 1973 Chilean coup, CIA agents Chris (John Malkovich) and Lee (Sam Rockwell) are dispatched from Santiago to Easter Island by their bureau chief, MJ (Steve Buscemi). Amongst the island's iconic statues, and as the long-time partners wrestle with their dark pasts and present conspiracies, Chris's newfound bond with a pair of rebellious students (Mariana di Girolamo and Ailín Salas) threatens to send everyone’s trip to this remote paradise sideways."

The film comes from director Martin McDonagh and marks his first feature since the acclaimed 2022 film The Banshees of Inisherin. Wild Horse Nine marks a reunion between acclaimed director Martin McDonagh and actor Sam Rockwell, following their successful collaboration on 2017's Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri. McDonagh also reunites with distributor Searchlight Pictures after collaborating on The Banshees of Inisherin.

A release date for Wild Horse Nine is yet to be announced.
