Aaron Taylor-Johnson is set to star in Enigma Variations, announced Netflix recently. Taylor-Johnson replaces actor Jeremy Allen White, who was announced to star early in 2025.
Enigma Variations is based on Andre Aciman's novel of the same name. In the series, Taylor-Johnson will portray Paul, whose quest, for 10 years, to find true love is chronicled in the series. Paul is a man who shifts between dating men and women in his pursuit to find love.
AK Shuman, who has worked on The Wheel of Time, is developing the upcoming series. She serves as a writer with Oliver Hermanus serving as a director. Shuman serves as an executive producer along with Aciman, Michael Ellenberg, and Monica Levinson. Media Res is backing the series along with Netflix.
Aciman is also the writer of the 2007 novel, Call Me By Your Name, which was later adapted into a film, directed by Luca Guadagnino, starring Timothee Chalamet.
Meanwhile, Taylor-Johnson will reunite with Robert Eggers' for Werwulf, after Nosferatu (2024).
