It has already been known that actor Wyatt Russell is confirmed to reprise his role in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters in a second season of the series. Meanwhile, Russell is also attached to a Monsterverse spinoff, hailing from his Monarch executive producer Joby Harold. The actor recently spoke about the upcoming spinoff in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter.

Russell said that production on the spinoff would start in the summer of 2026 and shared his excitement about it. Calling its screenplay "very good," the actor said, "I’m more excited to start working on this than I have been about anything in a long time." The actor also revealed that the spinoff would be considerably different from Monarch, subverting audience expectations about the series. "By early on in the show, people are going to be like, ‘This is wild. This is so different from what I thought I was going to be watching — in the best way," he added.

Harold serves as the writer and showrunner on the spinoff. According to Wyatt Russell, Harold is "inspired" by the idea of the spinoff, much like the rest of the team.

There are also other Monsterverse spinoffs. Referring to it, Russel said that the expansion of the Monsterverse franchise is "exciting" not just for creative people like him but also for the audience. "It’s exciting to expand the Monsterverse, and hopefully, for the next 10 or 15 years or however long, people can get excited about this new wave of storytelling that will come out of the Monsterverse. It focuses on the humans, but the monsters are still a big part of it, so it’s really fun to be able to help create that," the actor said.
