Actor Ryan Gosling is coming back to the big screen after a gap of two years with a key role in Project Hail Mary. The film is directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller from a Drew Goddard screenplay, based on Andy Weir's novel of the same name. It is expected to hit theatres worldwide, including IMAX screens, on March 20, Friday.

Meanwhile, reportedly, the makers of the film have pushed its India release to April 03, Friday, even as it remains March 20 for the rest of the world. Reports attribute this decision to the fact that both Dhurandhar 2, starring Ranveer Singh and directed by Aditya Dhar, and the Yash-starrer Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups are slated for March 19 releases. Reports say that the makers of the Gosling starrer have postponed their film to avoid a clash with the two box-office biggies in Indian cinema.

Dhurandhar recently became the highest-grossing Hindi film at the India box office. Given the massive collection that it gained at the box office and the positive reviews it received from critics, there is much anticipation for its sequel, Dhurandhar: The Revenge, as well. On the other hand, Toxic is Yash's long-awaited film, marking his comeback to the big screen after 2022's KGF: Chapter 2. Besides Kannada, the film, directed by Geetu Mohandas, has also been shot in English.

Both Dhurandhar: The Revenge and Toxic are set to have IMAX releases as well. Perhaps this explains why the makers of the Ryan Gosling film have reportedly postponed its release. That said, notably, an official confirmation is yet to arrive about it, and Bookmyshow still shows March 20 as the India release date for the film. Interestingly, the website of the film's distributor Sony Pictures India shows March 19 as the date, even as the trailer says it is set for a March 20 release.
