Selma actor David Oyelowo is joining Ariana Greenblatt and Rain Spencer in the upcoming indie film Little Five, produced by Anne Hathaway's Somewhere Pictures. With Oyelowo, Greenblatt and Spencer playing the lead, Sasha Frolovo, Nadia Alexander, Max Cortezi and Drew Powell are part of the supporting cast.

Directed by Ian Samuels from Gillian Williams' screenplay, the film is set against the 1980s backdrop at Indiana University. Little Five is based on the iconic Little 500 bicycle race. The story is about four unlikely young women who come together to pursue one impossible dream. They realise greatness comes with team spirit and not when alone, as they battle it out for a spot in America's most storied collegiate sporting traditions. The film is inspired by true events.

Oyelowo, in addition to Selma, has to his credit As You Like It (2006), Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), Lincoln (2012), Nightingale (2014), and Queen of Katwe (2016). He made his directorial debut with The Water Man (2020). He was recently seen in Nate Parker's Newborn and will next be seen in Clarissa, an adaptation of Virginia Woolf's novel Mrs Dalloway, directed by Arie Esiri and Chuko Esiri.
