The official trailer for Resident Evil has been released. The upcoming film is a reboot of the film series, and is set to open in theatres on September 18.

The upcoming film is directed by Zach Cregger, who has previously directed Barbarian (2022) and Weapons (2025). Cregger has written the film along with Shay Hatten, adapting the video games which is a first person shooter set in and around the fictional American city, Raccoon City, which is filled with zombies.

Austin Abrams, who worked with Cregger on Weapons (2025), leads the cast of Resident Evil. He will portray Bryan, a medical courier, who has to fight to survive one night against zombies, as he tries to deliver a package to Raccoon City. Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, and Paul Walter Hauser also star in the upcoming reboot.

Cregger is also producing the film with Robert Kulzer, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Carter Swan, and Asad Qizilbash.
