While Christopher Nolan has had a long association with India, The Odyssey is the first film of his to get an Indian premiere. The director was in Mumbai along with his wife and the film's producer Emma Thomas, and stars Matt Damon and Tom Holland.

"This is not the first time I have been to Mumbai, but this is the first time that I have had a chance to launch a film here. So you are amongst the first audiences in the world to see this film," said Nolan, who jokingly asked the audiences, "So just, really quick, who was better: Matt or Tom?"

"Can't determine. They are both fantastic," said the director who added, "Thank you so much for being here. Thank you for welcoming us. It is always a thrill to be here in India. I have had the pleasure of filming here twice. Once in Jodhpur and once in Mumbai. Everytime we come here it is very very special. For many years, I have wanted to launch a film here and experience it with the Indian audiences who are some of the most enthusiatic and knowledgable cinematic audiences in the world."

Based on Homer's epic poem of the same name, The Odyssey will follow the ten year journey of King Odysseus (Matt Damon) back to Ithaca, where his wife Penelope (Anne Hathaway) and son Telemachus (Tom Holland) have to defend Odysseus' claim to the throne. The cast of the film includes Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong'o, Samantha Morton, and Jon Bernthal, among others.

Nolan's regular collaborators, Oscar winning music composer Ludwig Gorannson and Oscar winning cinematographer Hoyte van Hoytema are on board The Odyssey's crew.
