Oscars 2026: Sinners become the most nominated film in history — Check out the full list of nominees

Sinners beats the record of 14 nominations set by Ben-Hur (1959), Titanic (1996), The Lord of The Rings: The Return of the Kings (2003), and La La Land (2016)

Oscars 2026: The nominees for the 98th Academy Awards Ceremony was announced by Lewis Pullman and Danielle Brooks at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre in Beverly Hills, USA.

Ryan Coogler's Sinners has become the most nominated film in history garnering 16 nominations. Sinners beats the record of 14 nominations set by Ben-Hur (1959), Titanic (1996), The Lord of The Rings: The Return of the King (2003), and La La Land (2016). Coogler has been nominated in the categories of Best Picture, Best Director, and Best Writing (Original Screenplay). Composer Ludwig Goransson has been nominted in the Best Music (Original Score) for the second time for Sinners. He is also nominated for Bes Michael B Jordan, Delroy Lindo, Wunmi Mosaku have all garnered their first Oscar nominations.

Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another has been nominated in 13 categories, with Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein, Josh Safdie's Marty Supreme and Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value garnering 9 nominations each. Meanwhile, Chloe Zhao's Hamnet has been nominated in 8 categories.

A new category has been added to the roster this year. For the first time casting directors will receive an Oscar for Best Casting.
