Aldis Hodge is back as Detective Alex Cross in the second season of Prime Video's series adaptation of James Patterson's novel series. Which means Cross is back on the hunt, this time a 'womanhunt' and not a 'manhunt', as a character describes in the latest Cross Season 2 trailer. In other words, creator and showrunner Ben Watkins' series puts Cross on the hunt of a female serial killer, whose identity the trailer only hints at and does not reveal fully. The plot follows Cross as he looks into a death threat against an affluent businessman (Matthew Lillard), which connects the latter to a rich playboy's murder. Cross and Alona Tal's FBI agent character Kayla Craig pursue a trail of clues to the murderer, including some gruesome hints.

Besides Hodge and Tal, the upcoming season brings back Isaiah Mustafa as Cross' best friend and fellow investigator John Sampson, Samantha Walkes as the titular detective's lover Elle Monteiro, Juanita Jennings as his grandmother, Caleb Elijah and Melody Hurd as his son and daughter, and Johnny Ray Gill as Bobby Trey. Besides Lillard, the new additions to the cast include Wes Chatham and Jeanine Mason.

Watkins and Hodge also serve as executive producers, alongside Sam Ernst, Jim Dunn, J David Shanks, Aiyana White, Craig Siebels, Owen Shiflett, James Patterson, Bill Robinson, and Patrick Santa.

The makers promise higher stakes in the upcoming season. Produced by Amazon MGM Studios alongside Paramount Television Studios, Cross season 2 is set to release on Prime Video on February 11 this year on the basis of a sequential rollout. The initial three episodes will drop on Prime Video on February 11, followed by an episode each once every week, with the finale set for a March 18 release.
