Actor Evangeline Lilly, best known for her roles in Lost and Ant-Man and the Wasp, revealed that she has sustained brain damage from an incident in Hawaii, where she fainted and fell on top of a boulder. Taking to Instagram, the actor said that she faces an "uphill battle" to recuperate from the injury and "reverse the deficiencies". The actor had a brain scan following the accident and it confirmed that nearly all areas of the organ are working at a reduced capacity. "Now my job is to hit the bottom of that with the doctors and then embark on the hard work of fixing it, which I don't look forward to because I feel like hard work is all I do. But that's okay," Evangeline Lilly expressed.

Also an author, Lilly once revealed in a Substack essay that she experienced spells of fainting and mental absence during her childhood days. She was examined for epilepsy back then and diagnosed to have a condition called hypoglycemia. She did not get a thorough explanation for the issue, which made her make peace with it.

The actor-author also revealed that doctors virtually ruled out her hypoglycemia condition after subsequent tests. She retired from acting in June 2024 in order to concentrate on her other endeavours and family life.
