Recently, we reported about Martin Scorsese teaming up with his frequent collaborator Leonardo DiCaprio for a film titled What Happens At Night. The latest development about the project is that Mads Mikkelsen has been added to the cast. The film also stars Jennifer Lawrence and Patricia Clarkson.

Scorsese is directing the film from Peter Cameron's novel What Happens At Night and based on an adapted screenplay by Patrick Marber. The legendary filmmaker will also back it through Sikelia Productions.

The film hails from Apple Original Films and is made in association with StudioCanal. It follows a husband (DiCaprio) and wife (Lawrence) who go to a small and snowy town in Europe and adopt a child. Mads Mikkelsen is set to play a character named Brother Emmanuel in the film.

It brings Scorsese back together with both DiCaprio and Apple Original Films for the first time after 2023’s Killers of the Flower Moon, which received multiple Oscar nominations, including one for Best Picture. The legendary director and the actor's previous collaborations are Gangs of New York (2002), The Aviator (2004), The Departed (2006), Shutter Island (2010), and The Wolf of Wall Street (2013). The film also reunites Lawrence with Apple Original Films after collaborations on Causeway (2022), in which she starred and served as a producer, and Bread and Roses (2023), which she only produced. She is also attached to star in and produce a murder mystery titled The Wives for Apple Original Films.

Coming back to Mads Mikkelsen, the actor is known for titles such as Hunt, Another Round, Casino Royale, Riders of Justice, Doctor Strange, and Hannibal. His upcoming projects include an action thriller named Sirius and a dark comedy titled The Last Viking. Meanwhile, DiCaprio and Scorsese have long been discussing a Theodore Roosevelt biopic and an adaptation of David Grann’s book The Wager: A Tale of Shipwreck, Mutiny and Murde
