Director Octavio Rodriguez's animation film, titled On the Edge, has announced Daryl McCormack and Mia McKenna-Bruce as its main cast members, reports Variety. As revealed the other day, Mark Rylance and Chris O’Dowd are also part of the cast, alongside Anna Maxwell Martin, Vincent Tong and Paterson Joseph.

Written by Michael Ryan and Laura Dockrill, the film follows the adventures of a motley group of endangered species, with a Cuban mammal named Donnie leading the way. Refusing to become extinct quietly, Donnie and the rest try to crash Pandaland hero Peng's world tour in a bid to find out how 'huggability' and popularity kept Peng alive.

In his journey, Donnie ropes in many members, including Vy, a loyal, fiercely independent and sassy aye-aye; Roman, a Jamaican greater funnel-eared bat with a tendency to be dramatic; and Kiki, a parrot known to be kind and optimistic.

Daryl McCormack is known for his roles in Twisters, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, and Good Luck to You, Leo Grande. On the other hand, Mia McKenna-Bruce shot to fame with a lead role in How to Have Sex, and she won the 2024 BAFTA EE Rising Star Award. McKenna-Bruce is also part of Sam Mendes' films based on the lives of The Beatles singers, where she will portray Ringo Starr's spouse Maureen Starkey. On the other hand, Mark Rylance is known for The BFG, Wolf Hall, and Bridge of Spies, among other titles. O’Dowd is most popular for his roles in This Is 40 and Bridesmaids.

The film is a collaborative venture between Studio BlueGreen, On the Edge Animation AIE, Studio 100 International, Able and Baker, Viva Pictures, and Telegael.
