Following the announcement that the Michael Jackson biopic, Michael, will release in theatres worldwide on April 24, the makers have dropped the trailer of the upcoming film on Monday.

The trailer begins with Michael (Jaafar Jackson) anxiously getting ready for a recording session as he says to himself to be confident. The glimpse then moves to the pop singer's childhood, where the Jacksons' father tells how he is struggling in a steel mill, and he doesn't want any of his children to go through what he did. The trailer encapsulates Jackson's emergence, popularity, illness, and ultimately led to his demise. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by three-time Oscar nominee John Logan, the film will see Jackson’s real-life nephew, Jaafar Jackson, stepping into the shoes of the King of Pop. The rest of the star cast comprises Colman Domingo, Nia Long, Miles Teller, Larenz Tate, Laura Harrier and Kat Graham. The cast is rounded out by Jessica Sula, Liv Symone, Kevin Shinick, Kendrick Sampson, and KeiLyn Durrel Jones.

The film was initially planned for an April 2025 release, was later moved to October that year and then to the current release date.

Graham King, who is known for producing The Aviator, The Departed, Blood Diamond, and Hugo, backs Michael under his GK Films banner. Interestingly, for King, Michael marks his second musician biopic production after Bohemian Rhapsody (2018), based on pop artist Freddie Mercury.
