Recently, we reported about Reliance Entertainment buying the distribution rights of Chloé Zhao's critically acclaimed film Hamnet, starring Jessie Buckley and Paul Mescal in the lead roles, and announcing February as its release window. Since then, the distributor has been actively promoting the film through its social media platforms every now and then.

Recently, the Reliance Entertainment website carried information about its upcoming films, listing Hamnet as one of them. It also features a poster for the Chloé Zhao directorial that mentions February 20 as the release date.

An adaptation of its co-screenwriter Maggie O'Farrell's novel of the same name, the film follows Paul Mescal and Jessie Buckley's characters William and Agnes Shakespeare, a couple grieving the passing of their son, Jacobi Jupe's titular character. The makers call it a "powerful story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet." Written by Chloé Zhao and O'Farrell, the film also stars Emily Watson as Mescal's onscreen mother Mary Shakespeare and Joe Alwyn as Agnes' brother, Bartholomew Hathaway.

It has been widely recognised as one of the best films of recent times. The film is a major contender for Best Picture at the 98th Academy Awards and the BAFTA Film Awards, alongside Paul Thomas Anderson's One Battle After Another and Ryan Coogler's Sinners, among other titles. Steven Spielberg and Sam Mendes are also part of the film as producers.
