The official trailer for Whalefall has been released by the makers. The film stars Weapons-fame Austin Abrams and Josh Brolin in the lead and is set to release on October 16.

Based on the book of Daniel Kraus, Whalefall follows Jay Gardiner (Austin Abrams), who recently lost his father (Josh Brolin), who dives off the coast of California when he is swallowed by a sperm whale. With just 60 minutes of oxygen left in his tank, he is forced to fight his way to survive.

Whalefall is written, directed, and produced by Brian Duffield. Speaking about the film in a press release he said, “To bring Daniel Kraus’ book to life, our cast and crew spent a summer inside a whale inside a sound stage in Studio City, California. I can’t wait for audiences to see the performances and hard work everyone put in to tell this thrilling and emotional story."

The cast of the film also includes Elisabeth Shue, John Ortiz, Jane Levy and Emily Rudd, among others.

Brian Grazer, Brian Duffield, Jeb Brody and Allan Mandelbaum are producing the film, with Doug Merrifield, Richard Abate and Will Rowbotham serving as executive producers.
