The sequel to the 2005 crime drama film Lord of War has been announced with a release set for 2027. Along with the returning cast of Nicolas Cage and Bill Skarsgard, filmmaker Andrew Niccol is back as the writer and director of the sequel, Lords of War.

Ended production recently, the sequel will feature Cage reprising the role as Yuri Orlov, the world's most notorious arms dealer. When he discovers that he has a son, Anton (Skarsgard), a ruthless mercenary who exploits America's wars in the Middle East. Both are locked in a fierce rivalry fuelled by power, betrayal, and ambition. As the father and son are fighting each other, uncertainty lingers over the global arms trade.

The film also stars Laura Harrier (White Men Can't Jump), Greg Tarzan Davis (Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning), and Sylvia Hoeks (A Sacrifice). The original film's producers, Philippe Rousselet and Fabrice Gianfermi, are returning to back the project with their Vendome Pictures banner, alongside Niccol and Cage's Saturn Films.
