Frankie Faison, and Alex Moffat and Heidi Gardner of Saturday Night Live-fame are the latest to onboard the cast of Stephen Merchant and Cameron Diaz's upcoming rom-com for Amazon MGM Studios.

The yet-to-be-titled movie, which is currently filming, will see Merchant star and direct from a screenplay he co-wrote with John Butler.

They join previously announced cast members Rob Lowe, Jake Lacy, Josh Segarra, Sherry Cola, Fabrizio Guido, Lisa Gilroy, Myra Lucretia Taylor and Dustin Ybarra.

According to the makers, the film centres on a career-obsessed British man (Merchant) working at a luxury New York hotel who requires a spouse to maintain appearances. He enters a convenient arrangement with a cash-strapped stand-up comedian (Diaz) seeking health insurance. What begins as a practical agreement gradually evolves into an unforeseen romantic connection.

The film is produced by Lee Eisenberg and Merchant, alongside Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, James Weaver and Josh Fagen. Natalie Sandy serves as executive producer.

Faison is known for his comedies such as Coming to America, White Chicks, Till and The Killing of Kenneth Chamberlain. He's works also include Ragtime, Do the Right Thing, and all four Hannibal Lecter films. On TV, he has appeared in The Wire, True Colors, Luke Cage, Banshee, Tomorrow! and Ripple.

Garder, who has been on Saturday Night Live for eight seasons, has played a recurring role on the NBC series The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins and played a key role in Apple TV’s Shrinking and Netflix's You. On the big screen, her feature works include Hustle, Life of the Party, Otherhood, Leo and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Similarly, Moffat was also a Saturday Night Live alum. He has worked on Susie Searches, Holidate, the live-action Clifford, Someone Great, Opening Act, Brewmance, and Summer of 60.
