Jeremy Hansen, the astronaut who is currently navigating the stars aboard the Artemis II mission, recently issued an effusive review for directors Christopher Miller and Phil Lord’s Project Hail Mary, starring Ryan Gosling in the lead. The NASA astronaut and his crewmates—Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and Reid Wiseman—watched the film before embarking on a lunar expedition. While the blockbuster depicts a fictional voyage, the Artemis II crew is currently indulged in deep-space exploration.

“We were quite fortunate to have been able to watch Project Hail Mary during quarantine,” stated Hansen. The astronaut and his colleagues received a link that allowed them to watch the Ryan Gosling starrer as they were gearing up for their space adventure. The 10-day-long expedition is the first of its kind flight with a crew thanks to the organisation's advanced capabilities.

The film stars Ryan Gosling as a science teacher with expertise in molecular biology who is sent on a mission to solve a puzzle related to the Sun and save humanity.

The astronaut added that the film exemplifies how “art imitates science and vice versa” in his message to Gosling. He appreciated the actor's performance in the film and said that its universal message about saving lives inspired him and colleagues. Gosling even recorded a message for Hansen and his peers where he wished them luck on the mission.

Coming back to Project Hail Mary, the film is an adaptation of an eponymous Andy Weir novel. It also stars James Ortiz, Sandra Huller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, Milana Vayntrub, and Priya Kansara, among others. According to reports, it has minted in excess of $400 million at the global box office.
