Outlander star to write and star in Ben and Lucy

Steven Cree, who was seen alongside Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan in Outlander, to write the script for the drama

Outlander's Steven Cree will write and star in the upcoming drama, Ben and Lucy. Cree is known for his role as Ian Murray in Outlander, and in Heads of State.

Ben and Lucy is directed by Cora Bissett, who is a playwright, who has written the stage adaptation of Emma Donahue's novel Room, which was later adapted into a film starring Brie Larson in the lead. Larson bagged an Oscar for the film. Amy Gardner will produce the film under her Finite Film banner.

Cree will star in the titular role of Ben, with Robert Carlyle, who headlined 28 Weeks Later, as Dan, Ben's addiction rehabilitation sponsor. Stuart Martin is also starring in the film.

The film follows the story of a recovering alcoholic and and standup comedian, Ben, and his daughter Lucy, who is also showing signs of addiction. Ben wants to show Lucy that he is getting better, but their contentious relationship spirals down into chaos.
