Production on the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film Spider-Man: Brand New Day is on pause as the film's lead actor Tom Holland has suffered a mild case of concussion on the set in a recent incident, reports multiple sources. According to the reports, Holland is taking a break from production as a precautionary measure, and he will rejoin the set some days later. Producers Sony and Marvel Studios are meeting today to figure out a new production plan for the film. Reportedly, others who are part of the cast and crew members do not have any injuries from the incident.

Jon Watts is the director of the three previous films in the Spider-Man franchise that stars Holland. However, Destin Daniel Cretton of Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings fame is directing the fourth film in the series. It brings back Zendaya as Michelle "MJ" Jones, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner, also known as the Hulk, Jon Bernthal as the Punisher, and Michael Mando as the Scorpion. The cast also includes newcomers to MCU such as Liza Colon-Zayas, known for The Bear, Sadie Sink (Stranger Things), and Tramell Tillman (Severance).

Spider-Man: Brand New Day started filming in Glasgow this August. Photos and an official video from the film's set, with Holland doing the stunts himself, have gone viral thanks mainly to the new approach to the making, including a greater number of practical effects. As production started, Holland said through an official Marvel Studios video that he does not feel any pressure to lead another Spider-Man film and that he would put in his best efforts to help make the film as good as possible.

Brand New Day is a follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home, which is reportedly one of the three highest-grossing MCU films of all time. The film is slated for a July 31, 2026, release in theatres.
