Siddharth-Freida Pinto-led Unaccustomed Earth adds more to cast as filming begins

Unaccustomed Earth, starring Freida Pinto and Siddharth in the lead, is an adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri's novel of the same name for Netflix

Netflix announced that filming for Unaccustomed Earth, which stars Freida Pinto and Siddharth in the lead, has begun. The series is an adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri's novel of the same name.

The streamer also announced that Justin Bartha, Jayant Kripalani, Parveen Kaur, Swayam Bhatia, and Palomi Ghosh are joining the cast of the series. They join the cast which includes Sarayu Blue, Indraneil Sengupta, Adi Roy, and Iyla Sundarsingh McKaig.

Unaccustomed Earth is created by John Wells, with Madhuri Shekar as the showrunner. Wells and Shekar serve as executive producers with author Lahiri, Erica Saleh, Nisha Ganatra, Celia Costas, Erin Jontow, and Ritesh Batra. Batra will direct the first two episodes of the series, whose first season consists of eight episodes. Batra is known for directing films like The LunchboxPhotograph, and Our Souls At Night. The latter of which starred the recently departed Robert Redford. John Wells Productions and Warner Bros Television are backing the series.

The series is set within the elite Indian American society at Cambridge, Massachussets, USA. When a scandalous love affair between the married Parul Chaudhary (Freida Pinto) and her long lost lover Amit Mukherjee is revealed, the community is forced to pick sides.
