Paul Walter Hauser joins cast of Resident Evil film from Weapons' director

Paul Walter Hauser has been announced to join the cast of the upcoming Resident Evil film, reported Deadline. Hauser was recently seen in films like The Fantastic Four: First Steps and The Naked Gun.

The upcoming film is directed by Zach Cregger, whose recent directorial, Weapons, garnered rave reviews. The film starred Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Benedict Wong, Alden Ehrenreich, and Austin Abrams. Cregger has written the script for the Resident Evil film along with Shay Hatten. Sony Pictures is backing the film.

Abrams is reuniting with Cregger for this film after Weapons. Robert Kulzer, Roy Lee, Miri Yoon, Asad Qizilbash, and Carter Swan are producing the film. Victor Hadida is serving as the executive producer for the film. PlayStation Productions, Vertigo Entertainment, TriStar Pictures are backing the film.

Hauser won the Emmy for Best Supporting Actor in a Limited Series for his performance in Apple TV+'s Black Bird. Hauser portrayed serial killer Larry Hall in the series which also starred Taron Egerton.
